Answers to common questions regarding Remedial Waterproofing

How much excavation work is required with the use of BENTOGROUT remedial waterproofing?

None. BENTOGROUT is typically installed through an injection pipe from grade level without costly excavation and backfill work. Not having to excavate can also defer the expense of replacing the landscape, as well as allowing remedial work on tight property line conditions.

Can BENTOGROUT be injected from the interior through a wall or under a slab?

Yes. BENTOGROUT can be injected from the interior of a building by drilling holes through the wall or slab for grout placement. Once again, no costly excavation and backfill work.

Can BENTOGROUT seal masonry block foundation walls?

BENTOGROUT is an ideal product for sealing leaky masonry block foundation walls. Unlike polyurethane or epoxy grouts, that are injected into the cracks within the wall, BENTOGROUT is injected to cover the entire exterior surface of the block wall. Thereby, BENTOGROUT seals all the small cracks and porous masonry by providing a remedial waterproofing membrane.

What type of equipment is used to mix and pump BENTOGROUT?

For exterior work, CETCO recommends the use of a trailer mounted grout pump and mixer unit with self-contained engine and hydraulics like the Putzmeister. Minimum 500 psi pressure rated, 1-1/4” diameter pump hose with quick disconnect camloc fittings is typical. For rental or equipment purchase, contact Putzmeister on 01246 264200.

Can BENTOGROUT be used in conjunction with AKWASEAL LV polyurethane grout?

Yes. When used with a polyurethane or epoxy grout, apply BENTOGROUT after the other product installation has been completed. That way the polyurethane or epoxy will have the best opportunity to adhere to the concrete surface.

Does BENTOGROUT work under continuous hydrostatic conditions?

Yes. The product will work under continuous or intermittent hydrostatic conditions.

What is the product coverage rate?

One 50-lb bag of BENTOGROUT yields 2.2 cubic feet of grout after being mixed with 14 gallons of water. One bag applied at ½” thick over the exterior wall surface will typically yield 50-square feet (4.6 sq m) of coverage. Actual coverage results will vary along with the site conditions and installation methods.

Can BENTOGROUT be used to seal old, irregular stone foundation walls?

Yes. BENTOGROUT is ideal for irregular stone foundations because the material can flow and contour the irregular surface – filling voids and cavities. Additionally, no excavation work is required, thus eliminating the chance of disturbing the buildings old foundation.

What pressures is BENTOGROUT generally pumped at?

BENTOGROUT is generally pumped at low pressures (15 to 70 psi) compared to polyurethane or epoxy grouts which may require pressures as high as 1,000 psi.
